There are currently 109 students on the waiting list to be paired with a Pioneer Pal mentor.
We would like to invite you to become part of our family. As a Pioneer Pal, you will have the opportunity to work with and mentor youth in an educational setting. There are three ways a Pioneer Pal can volunteer: 1) Reading or Math Tutor; 2) Social Skills with a Breakfast or Lunch Buddy; or 3) Special Talent/Career Interest Speaker to a class or at an assembly.
Pioneer Pals Guiding Principles:
Positive Role Models: Setting a good example in words and actions
Effective Communicators: Actively listening, seeking to understand and proactively interacting with children and other adults
Respectful of All: Treating others as you wish to be treated
Advocates for Education: Demonstrating the importance of learning and encouraging academic and personal excellence
Actively Involved: Making children a priority by being informed and participating in all aspects of the lives of our children
Leavenworth students will benefit in many ways. Your services will:
Help them set and achieve goals
Lead them to be successful
Our mission statement in Leavenworth School District is: Preparing every student for success in every classroom, every day.
You could be the answer to a child in need. We would love to have you join us in our efforts to reach every child.
For the safety of our students and staff, all volunteers will go through an application and background check process.
Note: All volunteers interested in participating in the Pioneer Pals Program may do so by submitting a Pioneer Pals application which is available at the school website or in the school office. Once your application has been received, the program coordinator will contact you with further instructions.
Please contact Ginger Ballaibe, Pioneer Pals Coordinator, at 913-684-1470 ext. 15141, or at the school, 1935 Vilas, with any questions.
